small business saturday

Stand Up For Salem is a neighborhood champion for Small Business Saturday. What does that mean? That means that we spend months preparing for the holiday season and advocate for our small businesses. Being the only main street association in Salem County, we have expanded our services to cover outlining areas including, Alloway, Quinton, Elsinboro, Woodstown, and beyond!

When you shop locally you support an entire community, not just a business. (2).png

What is Small Business Saturday?

Small Business Saturday is a national shopping day that takes place the Saturday after Thanksgiving. It originated in 2010 by American Express. This shopping day encourages consumers to Shop Small® and support their local communities.

Along with Black Friday and Cyber Monday, SBS kickstarts the holiday shopping season. Businesses typically offer Small Business Saturday sales and other incentives to get customers through the door and boost sales.

Shoppers, business owners, and civic leaders come together to support small businesses and help their communities thrive.

In an effort to support their local communities, organizations across the country sign up to serve as Neighborhood Champions. These supporters bring their community together with events and activities on Small Business Saturday and throughout the year.

What are we doing in 2021?

With our country still reeling from the pandemic, we wanted to give everyone a unique experience, but safely.

That is why we created a virtual challenge event via an app that runs until Christmas! Solve riddles, take selfies, make videos, complete timed challenges during community events, & more to creatively collect points! Those with the most points at the end will receive some pretty sweet prizes -- that's not all - everyone who participates will also receive an entry into a raffle, so ANYONE CAN WIN!

Is that not enough excitement for you? Fine. Swing by our office & receive a passport bracelet to fill up! Swing by your favorite shops and grab a charm that represents that shop! That way, you can always show off how you SHOP LOCAL! (Remember, the early bird gets the wor...errrr... bracelet, so get in early to collect your bracelet & charms! Each shop only has 25 charms to give!)
