This summer Stand Up For Salem hosted their first ever youth program in partnership with the Salem Family Success Center. The pilot program started in late June and ran the middle of August for 18 children aged 7-14.

SUFS was thrilled to find a wonderful program director this summer; Ms. Krishore Holloway, an college senior working toward her degree in Social Services at Cumberland County College.

Krishore developed curriculum in literacy and math skills based on hands on bicycle construction and repair, but found a serious need for instruction in prosocial behavioral skills which she provided.

Thank You to Helene Pierson

Helene Pierson came to Stand Up For Salem in October of 2013 as the Director of Community Development and project manager under the newly launched Neighborhood Revitalization Tax Credit (NRTC) Program, a $985,000 grant.

Most people got to know Helene, as she completed 170 projects in the city including demolitions, board ups of abandoned houses, homeowner fa├žade improvements in the Oak to Olive Street neighborhood and supported the Olive Street and Hires Avenue Community Gardens.
